Toronto Potters - Kris Magidsohn
I have been working in stoneware clay since the 1970’s and aside from attending some excellent workshops,
I am pretty much a self taught potter.
I work in both functional and sculptural mode and have discovered that the construction aspect of hand
building best meets my needs to function expressively.
From my rock collecting days long ago I developed a fascination with the textured surface of archeological
artifacts and rocks. I create most of my own stamps, the images of which I derive from various cultural symbols
and petroglyph-like characters.
The vessels are fully glazed inside and by using ceramic stains and underglazes only on the outside, I am able
to maintain the crispness of the textures.
